Considering how much I like to read, it’s surprising that there are so many extremely popular books that I just haven’t gotten around to reading! Most of these novels are not ones that I consciously refuse to read, but instead fall into the category of me missing the peak of their hype or just having too many other books to read. So below I have decided to make a list of the popular books that I haven’t read but would like to give a shot at some point or another! Be sure to let me know if we have any unread books in common in the comments below!!!
First off we have A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas. This is a book that is incredibly hyped, so much so that I fear that when I read it I’ll feel underwhelmed. Missing the peak of this book’s hype also contributed to my not reading this book. That is not to say that I do not want to and will not read this book; I would love to give it a shot but I’m just not too sure when I’ll get around to it!!
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo
This is a book that I really really (really!) want to read, but unfortunately I just haven’t yet. I have high hopes that this book will live up to all of the hype surrounding it ad cannot wait to read it soon! (seriously somebody tell me to just pick up this book already!)
My primary reason for having not already read this book (which is one that I know I will clearly love) is that I fear it’ll be too much like The Secret History. Dark academia is something that I absolutely love in a book, and I really liked The Secret History, so it really makes no sense that I haven’t read this one yet! I will certainly (probably, maybe) read this one soon, and certainly look forward to it!
The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue
As opposed to other popular books that I will probably end up reading, this is one that is likely to remain unread. Though the premise seems okay and apparently there is great rep, I just can’t bring myself to read this one. I can’t really seem to pinpoint the reason for this, and might consider reading it if somebody wants me to!
I would love to hear the popular books you haven’t read, and would be interested to know if we have any in common!!
You are not Alone in this I haven’t read them too 🙋

I listened to The Gentleman’s Guide and highly recommend it. The narrator is magnificent – a perfect voice for the MC. I laughed my way through it.

Oooh thank you for letting me know!! I’ll consider listening to the audiobook rather than reading a physical copy! 😊

I read the first two lol But I feel the same about A Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue. I can’t quite put my finger on why yet but I don’t think I’m ever gonna read it lol

I’m glad I’m not alone, I think for me it’s just been on my tbr for sooooo long that I kinda just lost interest and accepted the fact I’d probably never get round to it haha

I haven’t read any of these, but I’ve read some of Sarah J Maas so I’d be tempted to give that book a go! Great post

I want to read “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” and “A Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue.” While I’m halfway through the Throne of Glass series, I’m not really interested in SJM’s other YA series.

Ooooh would you recommend the throne of glass series?? Maybe I’ll read that one first instead!

I’d recommend “Throne of Glass” if you enjoy intricate fantasy with a badass female lead who doesn’t fit the stereotypes and mysteries that aren’t the focus of the story.

To be fair, I rarely read “hyped up” literature, I just get dissapointments from all those books.

thousands of new books come out every day. I’d need another few lifetimes to put a dent on them. But reading is my religion,, so just maybe. Maybe.
