My Bookish Bucket List!

As an avid reader, there are a whole multitude of bookish things I would love to do in my lifetime! From book events to personal achievements to visiting famous bookish landmarks, there is a lot that I want to get done, so I thought it would be fun to create a proper list to share with everybody! I would love to hear if we have any goals in common, and any goals you have that I haven’t included in my list!

So, without further ado, lets begin!

Read 100 books in a year

Though I absolutely love to read and do so as often as possible, unfortunately I have always been too busy with work or study to read this many books in a year! I know that there are many people in the community that regularly read this many books (and even more!) per year, but for me achieving this goal would be incredible and is one that I certainly hope to achieve soon!

Read a book in another language

I’m a native English speaker and this is the only language I am fluent in, so subsequently I’ve been unable to read a novel written in any other language. This is something I desperately hope to rectify in the future and is certainly one of my most prominent goals on this list!

Meet a favorite author

There are so so many talented authors I would absolutely love to meet, but unfortunately I have never had the privilege of meeting a single author! This is something I am desperate to change, and I hope to have met a whole range of authors in the near future!

Encourage multiple people to take up reading!

Whether it be in the job I end up pursuing after completion of my degree, or within groups of peers, family and friends, this is something that I hope to consistently achieve throughout my life! I find this so rewarding, and it is something I definitely encourage provided you aren’t being pushy or forceful!

Visit at least 3 iconic bookish landmarks

This is something I want to do so desperately! I’m planning on making a separate blog post mentioning each bookish place I wish to visit, so make sure to keep your eyes peeled for that!!

Read Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin in its entirety

Needless to say this whole series is legendary and intimidatingly long! The books have been on my TBR for the longest time, but I am waiting for the perfect opportunity to begin to tackle this challenge!

Write or help to edit a book

This is probably one of the things I want to achieve the most! It has been a dream of mine since childhood, and is something I will be keenly pursuing!

Read as many classics as humanly possible

I am a huge lover of classics and modern classics, and I’m making it my mission to read as many as possible! I have a huge list of the ones I’m hoping to read, and I am slowly but surely making my way through it! I would also love to collect all of the prettiest editions of these as an extension of this.

Reread as many childhood favorites as possible

I love rereading books that I loved in my childhood and teens, and I’m actively trying to reread more of those that had a big impact on me. It’s interesting to see to what extent my opinions have changed or remained the same, and I would certainly recommend doing this if you have the time!

Leave notes in bookstores for future readers

This is something that is so cute and is something that I really want to partake in! Once bookstores open again I will be sure to do this!

Create my own home library

Currently my books are piled high all around my room with no real organisation, and it is an absolute dream of mine to one day own a place in which I can display my books on multiple beautifully arranged bookcases!

Attend multiple literary events

This is something I would absolutely love to do when it is possible! I haven’t been to many, but hope to change this in future!

That wraps up some of the things on my bookish bucket list that I wish to achieve most! This is by no means a complete list, and I am likely to come back and update this list in future!

I’d love to hear the things on the top of your bookish bucket list, and would be interested to know if we have any in common in the comments below!

  1. Great bucket list!! Visiting book-related landmarks is such a cool idea, can’t wait to see your post about that! I also hope to someday own a beautifully organized book library, and to balance my love of contemporary books with lots of classics πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you! A bookish landmark is a particularly interesting/ beautiful place that is associated with books! So for example the Shakespeare bookshop in Paris and the Austrian National Library are both places associated with books that are absolutely beautiful and have their own respective rich histories!!
